Before the awful sound

Gérard was born into an upper middle-class French-Moroccan family. His youth was simple enough, happy enough; however, his family was always emotionally distant. This distance is what led him to seek the arts– an emotional pick-me-up, so to speak. After completing his studies he enlisted– as expected. It was almost tradition in the Lacroix family, after all.

I met you up upon a stage

His combative skill was attractive to Overwatch, and he was recruited during the organization’s peak years. It was then he became savvy to Talon. Disgusted by it with every fiber of his being, he sought to lead all operations to exterminate the organization.

Meanwhile, he liked to think he had a social life. Spending time with friends, and kindling his budding romance with la danseuse étoile of the Paris Opera.

Happily married, and running successful missions to keep Talon at bay, his good fortune would not last. First came the assassination attempts, then came Amélie’s kidnapping.

Then the final assassination attempt.

If one were to say he survived, they might find him living under an alias, never staying in one place for too long. His vendetta against Talon would increase tenfold, and he would never be at rest. The prospect of an Overwatch recall is attractive– more resources to finish what he started, and to avenge the wife he all but lost. He cannot look back until the job is done.

A kind friend and doctor answered his distress signal in the nick of time. His wife was long gone, and he barely had the strength to make the call. His revival wasn’t a complete clean job, as he was clinically dead. He now lives with a mild aphasia and chronic headaches. These conditions do not stop him from travelling from place to place, intercepting Talon activities, establishing connections, while he anticipates more of his former colleagues to answer Winston’s recall.
